Thief .... It's what's for dinner... that is if you let the hammerite zombies get ya. And there is plenty of them later in this game.

Thief is unlike any First Person Shooter you ever play, in fact their is allot less shooting and a lot more sneaking around AVOIDING enemies and not making any sounds. Smashing into houses and killing thousands of enemies is not a option, you must act like a thief would act, and that mean's not getting caught.

Thief is a incredibly enjoyable game to behold, deeply creative, and tremendously difficult. Our anti-hero is Garrett, once a Keeper (the watchmen of the city, so highly skilled in stealth, no body sees them unless they want them to) in training, left to do a less admirable occupation of thiefry You start the game doing petty theft like steal a scepter from a snobbish richman before you actually get into the plot and purpose of the game, which involves Hammerite Zombies, Religious Fanatics, A evil earth demon dubbed "The Trickster".

Instead of having a arsenal of destructive weapons, you acquire only three. A Blackjack to knock out enemies unconscious, it quickly becomes the weapon of choice. A sword, a weak weapon that makes too much noise to be useful. And a Bow, perfect for those far away shots. There are many types of arrows you can use. Fire arrows, moss arrow, water arrow, even rope arrows. Each weapons adds allot of stratergie to the game.

What makes thief so enjoyable to play is it's stealthy game play. You use the darkness for you advantage, since you learned the art for concealing yourself from the keepers. A small gem on the bottom of the screen tells you how well concealed you are, if its bright it means that you are exposed to light at that time, if a guard saw you at this time you would be attacked. If however the gem is dark then the darkness will hide you and people wont see you. If you want to survive in this game you MUST learn to hide in the shadows and remain undetected to survive, you are not a tank. If you run around the place, a guard might hear your footsteps and start to investigate. If you kill a guard and forget to hide the body or "clean up" the blood spots, a guard might sound the alarm. Gameplay requires you to think ahead and to save often.

My only complaints is that in some missions there are plenty of zombies but not enough holy water to kill the zombies with and the graphics are a little too dark in some places to see where to go. With that aside thief is a great gaming experience and is recommended.

If you must fight, you will die!

Good Press

+Plenty of original emmursive gameplay

+Dark moody sound effects

Bad Press

-Graphics too dark sometimes.

-NOT ENOUGH HOLY WATER!

Overall 8.6 out of 10

Although a different gaming experience than Quake, gamers who give this game a chance will be rewarded.
