In Legacy
of the wizard, you play the role of a woodcuting family that
must venture forth though the horrific underground dungeons,
collect four crowns, and slay a evil disgusting, demonic,
satanic, sinistar, green dragon....and get home before dinner...
or something like that. To be truthful I got this game in
a bargain bin with no manual so I truthfuly don't know all
the story. I was hoping that there would be a text intro that
tells you what going on but, this game warps you directly
into the character selection screen.
You can
choose one of 4 characters to venture with. A male ax swinger,
the blue knight, the caped girl, or the family's pet monster
that looks like Lo Lo. Each character has it's own strengths
and weaknesses. The ax man throws the farthest but throws
very slowly. While the knight man throws sword like a machine
gun but can't move as fast. The monster is the worst a throwing.
After
you've have selected your hero you then go down into the dungeons.
You have a inventory screen, but here this you can only equip
stuff after spending the night at a inn. Why only at inns?
I would like the option to switch tools and equipment whenever
I liked.
The dungeons
have a very clasiphobic and repetitive feel to them, it is
easy to get lost in the endless layers of rooms. Monsters
regenerate way to fast and they always leave poison potion
after they die, making you look life points more often than
necessary. And what's with making your gold look like a life
bar, you can't tell right away how much money you've required.
Grrr.
The graphics
look like bad wallpaper, you know the eyestaining kind on
personal hompages made in less than ten minutes. Yep, in know
the NES can only support 32 colors and only 4 for each sprite
but c'mon, Stuper Mario looked better than this game!
If you've played
all the other Action RPGs on the NES, you might what to give
this game a try. Just don't expect to know what's going on.
