Available: Game
Requirements: Gameboy
I Recommend: Color Gameboy, or Gameboy Advance
There
are not too many dungeon craws for the gameboy. Azure Dreams
aims towards solving that problem. Azure Dreams is a odd mix
of Pokemon style monster breading and Diablo style gameplay.
You
step in the shoes of Kau, a young boy who dreams of becoming
a treasure hunter. His father (who was also a treasure hunter)
went into the famous 'monster tower' to find the ultimate
treasure 'the monster of no seeing', unfortunately he never
returned. Now the boy wants to go into the tower to find out
what happened to his father. I heard this story a thousand
times before in many RPGs.
The
game play is very diabloish. Levels randomly regenerate, you
find weapons and slay monsters. You find eggs and grow monsters,
then they can join your party granted that you have a belt
to walk them with. The higher you go the tougher it gets.
You can cast spells on enemy granted that the gem does not
go out of power. Nothing too new under the sun, but it is
enjoyable to collect treasure, level up on monsters, and bread
new allies to aid you in your fight.
Sound
effects and music are 8-bit but so is the gameboy so there
is no real complaint except I found the music to be a little
too Japtecno is for my tastes.
Graphics
are great for a gameboy game, graphics are colorful but you
can tell the differences between the backgrounds and the sprites.
Most important characters have full close-ups when speaking.
Players
who like leveling up and exploring dungeons for valuables
and treasures will enjoy this game
